Airport Playhouse presents it's Gay Theater Weekend

THE BOYS IN THE BAND

This dramatization of a gay birthday party with its bitterness, corrosive humor and vicious party games opened in New York in 1968 and changed the way the theatre portrays homosexuals and homosexuality. When it was recently revived at New York's Lucille Lortel Theatre, critics reaffirmed its status as a powerful and superbly entertaining play. The Manhattan’s East Side host of the party receives an odd telephone call from his old college roommate, who then follows up with an unexpected visit. Surprised to find himself in a room full of "pansies," the straight interloper is drawn into a "truth" game. The results are harrowing as the men level with each other and themselves.
